And it was a big lesson and we all became closer as a result.
But I think when my family knew better, they did better. It required some explanation and some demonstration for him to “get” it. Initially, he did not understand what any of that was. I waited six years to tell my father about my ability. They knew I was having experiences but they didn’t give it much thought in terms of what it could mean. What was it like coming out to your family as a medium? Coming out as gay was really something that … well, it was not one coming out. That really was the catalyst that brought me down this path. For me, my work as a medium began when I was 10 years old when I got a premonition about my grandmother’s death.
I was in a religious household and we never talked about spirituality or mediums, or anything like that. I came from a really conservative Christian community in Central California. You have had two unique coming-out experiences - one as a gay man, the other as a medium. Here, Henry opens up about his unconventional life path and all that it entails. Henry takes a creative leap to the Coachella Valley in May with a live show at the Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa dubbed “Life Lessons I’ve Learned from The Departed.” In addition to chatting up his gift and how it affects his everyday life, the show features a multimedia presentation and interactive question-and-answer session with the audience.
But somehow fate plucked him out of bucolic Central California and thrust him right into the spotlight. The out, self-described loner whose childhood premonitions about death and “the other side” forever changed the trajectory of his life, did not know much about Hollywood and celebrities at all. Ironically, considering what he does for a living, Henry never saw any of his current fame coming. Henry is also a self-described evidential-based medium, which, depending on how you do the cosmic math, foretells a life filled with interpreting messages from the invisible realm and “the other side,” adding those elements up, drawing a line under them, and offering the sum of all spiritual parts to the likes of Hollywood head-turners such as Margaret Cho, Khloe Kardashian, Eva Longoria, Ryan Lochte, Chad Michael Murray (yet another amazing hairline!), and countless others.
